We visited Crate Lake NP during our California Red Woods Trip in the fall of 2015. When we were driving into Crater Lake NP it started snowing. These great big flakes were coming down all around us all the way in to the lodge. Fog, mist and snow! What a great introduction to this beautiful national park. We had great dinner at the lodge and then to bed. There was about 3 – 4 inches of snow so it didn’t last but a couple of day while we were there.

Crater Lake is amazingly clear and blue. There really is only one place to get down to a dock there for a cruise tour; all the rest of the slopes are too dangerous to climb down. We hiked some, walked some and drove all the way around the lake. The drive takes several hours without stopping. Glad we spent a couple of days there! Enjoy
