National Sites / National Lakeshores
We spent 5 nights in Bayfield, WI at the Apostle Islands Area Campground. We enjoyed our visit immensely. We took a couple of cruises around the Apostle Islands and drove the peninsula towns and back roads exploring.
Bayfield Area (2019)
Bayfield Area: The Bayfield area had some great homes, churches and businesses. We had either lunches or dinners here when we would get back from our excursions. We caught cruises from here and the Apostle Islands visitor center is located here also. It was not crowded but the locals told us that it gets very crowded in the winter also for the Sea Caves.
Sea Caves (2019)
Sea Caves: The main access to the Sea Caves is through the lake using boats, kayaks or canoes. There is a trail to hike down to the beach area from above but it was to warm for Sadi to hike the 6 miles round trip. The best view is from the lake.
Madeline Island (2019)
Madeline Island: though not actually part of the Apostle Islands, it is an interical part of the islands. We took the ferry across and walked the town and roads. Of course we had to have lunch there!
