We visited Pikes Peak during our fall 2005 roadtrip. We had gone to the Rocky Mountain National Park for a week of hiking and photography. The drive up to Pikes Peak can be thrilling, especially when the paved road becomes a gravel road and a snow storm comes in while you are at the top! The snow covered gravel area becomes…slippery! But we enjoy our time up there in the high altitude: 14,110 FT. We had spent the week hiking up to 10,000 and 12,000 range in Rocky Mountains, so we didn’t really notice any physical change in either of us while spending some time there and grabbing something to eat at the snack bar..
