Sharpsburg, MD (2007)
Antietam National BattleField is a very solemn and large battle field to visit. When reading the history of this battle, viewing the memorials and interpretive plaques, and the pictures that had been taken after the battle; the tragedy of this war is staggering. The weather ranged from beautiful sunny 70s to snow, windy and cold days. All of which displayed the battlefield in various stages of light and history.
I had a meeting to attend in Shepherdstown, WV and since Antietam was just a few minutes away I spent early mornings and evenings exploring the grounds. Many times I was the only one there and solemness was very heavy.
