Riverlands Migratory Bird Sanctuary, St. Louis, MO (Nov, 2019)

We did a local birding trip today to visit a couple of conservation areas and the Riverlands Migratory Bird Sanctuary. My goal was to get a few pictures of the migrating American White Pelicans. For the past few weeks there have been one or two but someone had posted that a few thousand had flown in 2 days ago.

At the Riverlands Migratory Bird Sanctuary, we found maybe about 1000 or so scattered in two groups. These were quite a distance from the road where we were. (The area is currently closed to hiking.) Between the binoculars and spotting scope we enjoyed our time there. We also saw 10+ Trumpeter Swans but they were very far away from us. Some other duck; Coots, Mallards, and a small group of Bufflehead. These pictures were shot with my Canon 600mm with a 1.4x converter for an effective 850mm range and heavily cropped.
